University of California, Irvine, USA
From 2007, we have engaged in a collaboration with the UC Irvine cardiac CT imaging program of Dr. J. Narula to share experience and scientific research. Dr. Narula was given the first Hein Wellens Professorship at the University of Maastricht.
Dr. Hofstra is currently visiting research professor at the UCI (faculty). The combined strengths of the Maastricht and Irvine research groups have resulted in publications in top-rated medical and biomedical journals.
In the beginning of 2008 we joined forces with the Cardiac CT Department of Erasmus MC.
Prof. Dr. P. de Feyter and Dr. K. Nieman are international highly respected cardiac CT specialists. Together we set-up an ambitious cardiac CT research program.
Molecular Imaging and Theraputics Laboratory (MMITLAB)
The Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics Laboratory (MMITLAB) aims for the translation of advances in basic molecular research into novel imaging strategies and therapeutic applications for clinical practice. The lab is directed by Dr. Leonard Hofstra and Dr. Chris Reutelingsperger, specialized in cardiology and biochemistry, respectively.
Heart Attack Prevention Program for You (HAPPY)
The HAPPY program is a ambitious research and public program with the goal to detect patients with high cardiovascular risk in a early stage. Dr Hofstra, together with Dr Narula are the two initiators of this worldwide program.
